Piles?

Swollen and inflamed veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort and bleeding. Haemorrhoids are usually caused by straining during bowel movements, obesity or pregnancy. Discomfort is a common symptom, especially during bowel movements or when sitting. Other symptoms include itching and bleeding. A high-fibre diet can be effective, along with stool softeners. In some cases, a medical procedure to remove the haemorrhoid may be needed to provide relief.

Cause

They become pathological (piles) when swollen or inflamed. Piles are a very common ailment that may affect men or women at any age. These are caused due to continuous high pressure in the veins. Other causes include constipation, excessive straining during bowel movements and persistent diarrhoea

Treatment

Witch Hazel -Witch hazel can reduce both itching and pain, two main symptoms of hemorrhoids. It’s a natural anti-inflammatory, so it could also reduce swelling. Aloe vera- It’s thought to have anti-inflammatory properties, which might help reduce irritation. Over the counter medication.

Procedures

Cauterization - In a procedure called coagulation or cauterization, your doctor uses an electric probe, a laser beam, or an infrared light to make a tiny burn to remove tissue and painlessly seal the end of the hemorrhoid, causing it to close off and shrink Sclerotherapy (injections). In this procedure, a proctoscope is gently inserted into the anus. A proctoscope is a short tube with a light on it which the doctor can use to look at the membranes lining the anus. Stapled hemorrhoidopexy- a surgical procedure that involves the removal of abnormally enlarged hemorrhoidal tissue, followed by the repositioning of the remaining hemorrhoidal tissue back to its normal anatomic position.
